Appearance of the Patient
Appearance: The patients appear in distress
Vitals: Hypotension ( in case of upper GI bleed secondary to varices), tachycardia
HEENT: Hematemesis, esophageal varices
Abdomen: Abdominal pain and distension, hepatomegaly, splenomegaly, left upper quadrant tenderness.
Neuromuscular: The patient is usually oriented to time, person and place
