Transvaginal ultrasound can be used for staging of cervical cancer. On ultrasound, cervical cancer is characterized by hypoechoic, heterogeneous mass involving the cervix.
Ultrasound
- Transvaginal color Doppler ultrasound can be used in predicting response to chemotherapy in women with cervical cancer. [1]
- Doppler ultrasound can pedict tumor volume based on angiogenesis, intramural vascularization and hemodynamic flow.
- Tranvaginal ultrasound also is helpful in detecting small size tumor and invasion to lymph nodes.
