Overview
Surgery
- Surgical intervention alone may be curative as a single therapeutic modality for the management of low risk neuroblastoma patients.[1]
- Surgical intervention must be followed by chemotherapy for the management of intermediate risk neuroblastoma patients.[2]
- The potential benefit of aggressive surgical approaches to achieve complete tumor resection in high-risk patients with metastatic disease has not been clearly demonstrated.[3][4][5][6]
- Surgical complications following neuroblastoma resection may include:[7]
- Intussusception
- Internal haemorrhage due to vessel injuries
- Nerve injuries
