Laboratory Findings

• Renal failure (serum creatinine > 2x normal)
• Hepatic inflammation (AST, ALT > 2x normal)
• Thrombocytopenia (platelet count < 100,000 / mm³)
• In some cases, blood cultures may be positive for growth of S. aureus.
