Definitions

  • Tachycardia is defined as an arrhythmia with a rate of ≥􏰃100 beats per minute. Clinically significant tachycardia refers to an arrhythmia rate of 􏰈≥150 beats per minute.
  • Wide QRS complex is defined as a QRS complexes with a duration of ≥0.12 second.[1]

Action Items

  • Maintain patent airway; assist breathing as needed.
  • Maintain i.v. access.
  • Administer oxygen if hypoxemic.
  • Monitor blood pressure, oximetry and attach ECG monitor/defibrillator.
