According to the Children's Oncology Group, there are four stages of rhabdomyosarcoma based on the location of tumor, size of tumor, involvement of lymph nodes, and metastasis.

According to the childrens oncology group, there are four stages of rhabdomyosarcoma based on the location of tumor, size of tumor, involvement of lymph nodes, and metastasis. The stages of rhabdomyosarcoma are shown in the table below:
Stage | Description |

Stage 1 | Favorable site- orbit, eyelid, head and neck (excluding parameningeal), genitourinary (non-bladder, non-prostate); N0 or N1; M0 |
stage 2 | Unfavorable site- urinary bladder, prostate, extremity, trunk, parameningeal, other; size <5 cm; N0; M0 |
stage 3 | Unfavorable site- Bladder, prostate, extremity, trunk, parameningeal, other; size <5 cm; N1; M0 |
stage 3 | Unfavorable site- Bladder, prostate, extremity, trunk, parameningeal, other; size >5 cm; N0 or N1; M0 |
stage 4 | Favorable or unfavorable site- N0 or N1 ; M1 |
N0 = Regional nodes not clinically involved; N1 = Regional nodes clinically involved; M0 = No metastasis; M1 = distant metastasis
