Overview
Life-threatening causes of encephalitis include Balamuthia mandrillaris and Dengue fever. Common causes of encephalitis include infections with viruses such as arbovirus, herpes simplex, measles, mumps, polio, and rabies. Less common causes of encephalitis include autoimmune disorders and infections with bacteria, fungi, and parasites.
