History

A detailed and thorough sexual history from the patient is necessary. Specific areas of focus when obtaining a history from the patient include:

• Previous history of sexually transmitted diseases
• Any new sexual partners
• Urogenital disorders
• Recent catheterization or other genitourinary instrumentation
