Surgical intervention is not recommended for the management of systemic lupus erythematosus.
- If lupus nephritis progress to end-stage renal disease, renal transplantation can be considered as the treatment of choice.[1]
- If patient develops osteonecrosis, due to delayed diagnosis of the condition, joint arthroplasty (replacement) or total hip or knee replacements may be needed.[2]
- If patient develops effusion arthritis, arthrocentesis can be done to relieve the joint and increase patient's range of motion.
