The incidence of brainstem gliomas is estimated to be 0.05 - 0.1 cases per 100,000 individuals in the USA. A bimodal distribution by age is noted with peak incidences rates in children and older adults. The prevalence and incidence of brainstem gliomas do not vary by either race or gender.

Age
A bimodal distribution by age is noted with peak incidence rates in children (aged 7-9 years; most common) and among older adults (aged 30-40; rare) is seen.[1]
Gender
There is no gender predilection to the development of brainstem glioma.[1]
Race
There is no racial predilection to the development of brainstem glioma.
