Liver Biopsy

• Liver Biopsy is usually not needed in the workup of sinusoidal obstruction syndrome.
• If needed, a transjugular liver biopsy is preferred instead of percutaneous biopsy.
• Findings on liver biopsy suggestive of sinusoidal obstruction syndrome include:
  • Sinusoidal dilation
  • sinusoidal congestion by erythrocytes
  • Thrombi within the terminal hepatic venules
