Incidence
- The incidence of mixed connective tissue disease is approximately 2.7 per 100,000 individuals per year.[1]
Prevalence
Mortality rate
- In MCTD, the mortality rate is nearly 10.4% over the period of 13-15 years.[2]
Age
- Mixed connective tissue disease is usually diagnosed during childhood. It usually starts between 2 and 16 years of age (mean age of 11 years old).[1]
Race
- MCTD is more frequent in the black population and among Asians.[3]
Gender
- Female are more commonly affected by mixed connective tissue disease than male. The female to male ratio is approximately 10 to 1.[4]
