Cost effectiveness
Given the morbidity and mortality associated with multiple sclerosis, as well as the high cost of treating the acute attacks and disability of MS disease, treatment with IFN β-1a SC injection, IFNβ-1b SC injection, and glatiramer acetate is relatively cost-effective.[1] Life time treatment of multiple sclerosis patients can cost as much as 2.2 million US dollar.[2] Controlling acute attack can reduce the economic burden of MS disease.[3]
