Causes
- The particular cause of rhabdomyosarcoma is not clear.[1][2]
- Some of genetic disorders are related to higher prevalence of rhabdomyosarcoma:
- Li-fraumeni syndrom
- Gorlin basal cell nevus syndrome
- Neurofibromatosis
- Costello syndrome
- Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome
- Beckwith-wiedemann syndrom
- It is thought that some environmental factors may be associated to rhabdomyosarcoma such as:[3][4]
- Positive history of exposure to alkylating agents
- Parental xray exposure
- Parental usage of recreational drugs (marijuana)
- It is tought that some maternal history and birth characteristics may be associated to rhabdomyosarcoma such as:[5][6]
- Maternal history of stillbirths
- High maternal age at childbirth
- High birth weight
