Overview
No specific treatment is available for this or other enterovirus infections. Symptomatic treatment is given to provide relief from fever, aches, or pain from the mouth ulcers.
Medical Therapy
- Antipyretics may be given for fever
- Hydration of the patient should be maintained
- Analgesics such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen can be used for mouth pain. Codeine and topical anesthetics may be used in patients with significant dysphagia.
