Epidemiology and Demographics

Incidence

The incidence of brainstem gliomas is 0.05 - 0.1 per 100,000 individuals per year.

Age

A bimodal distribution by age was noted with peak incidence rates in children (aged 7-9 years; most common) and among older adults (aged 30-40; rare) is seen.

Gender

There appears to be a similar incidence in both males and females.

Race

No racial predilection is seen in brainstem glioma cases.
