Complications
Rarely, a heart infection results that can lead to severe symptoms or even death if untreated. Other complications can include:
- Bone infection (osteomyelitis)
- Brain infection (encephalitis)
- Liver infection (chronic hepatitis)
- Lung infection (pneumonia)
