Forms of Worm
Ennterobius vermicularis and Enterobius gregorii are the two pinworms commonly found in human. The best known is the human pinworm Enterobius vermicularis and the more recently discovered Enterobius gregorii. Both species are clinically identical but have minor difference in the spicule(sexual organ). E. gregorii carries a smaller spicule. The life cycle, clinical presentation, and treatment of E. gregorii is identical to E. vermicularis. The adult pinworm male is 1–4 mm in length, while the adult female is 8–13 mm and possesses the long, pin-shaped posterior for which the worm is named. The human pinworm is commonly found in children.
