Forms of Worm
The two pinworms commonly found in human are:
- Enterobius vermicularis
- Enterobius gregorii
Both have minor difference in the spicule(sexual organ). E. gregorii carries a smaller spicule. The life cycle, clinical presentation, and treatment of E. gregorii is identical to E. vermicularis. The adult pinworm male is 1–4 mm in length, while the adult female is 8–13 mm and possesses the long, pin-shaped posterior for which the worm is named. The human pinworm is commonly found in children.
