The most common symptoms of volvulus include abdominal pain, abdominal distension, constipation and vomiting. Patients are usually elderly or institutionalized.
History
Patients with volvulus may have a positive history of:
- Prolonged confinement in bed
- Institutionalization
- Residency in an elderly home
- Debilitation
Common Symptoms
Common symptoms of volvulus include:
- Abdominal pain
- Abdominal distension
- Vomiting
- Constipation
- Obstipation
- Nausea
Less Common Symptoms
Less common symptoms of volvulus include:
- Acute abdominal pain
- Fever
- Syncopy
