Overview
Causes
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a result of variety of of disorders leads to structural and functional failure in a involved joints. Osteoarthritis Traditionally has been considered as a disease specifically related to articular cartilage, but noways its been proven that OA influencing the whole joint system consisted of: capsule, and synovium, subchondral bone, cartilage, menisci, ligaments, and periarticular muscle.
occurs when the cartilage that cushions the ends of bones in your joints gradually deteriorates. Cartilage is a firm, slippery tissue that permits nearly frictionless joint motion.
In osteoarthritis, the slick surface of the cartilage becomes rough. Eventually, if the cartilage wears down completely, you may be left with bone rubbing on bone.
