Overview
On MRI, there are no specific findings of sarcomatoid carcinoma of the lung. MRI may be done for the pleural effusion assessment, guidance for thoracentesis, and guidance for biopsy of peripheral lung or mediastinal mass.

On MRI, there are no specific findings of sarcomatoid carcinoma of the lung.[1][2]
- MRI scan may be used for diagnosis or assessment of the following:[3][4]
- Pleural effusion assessment.
- Guidance for thoracentesis.
- Guidance for biopsy of peripheral lung or mediastinal mass.
- May be useful in superior sulcus tumors to rule out brachial plexus involvement.
