Bone marrow biopsy, although not done routinely but sometimes can be useful in supporting the diagnosis.

Other diagnostic studies

Other investigation done include:

• Bone marrow biopsy (not usually done) shows hypercellular bone marrow with a megaloblastic maturation of cells. However it cannot be used to differentiate it from changes observed with vitamin B-12 deficiency.
