According to the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF), screening of the general population for molluscum contagiosum is not recommended. The Molluscum Contagiosum Diagnostic Tool for Parents (MCDTP) is a newly developed diagnostic test for in home diagnosis of the molluscum contagiosum in children but it is not recommended by guidelines as a routine screening test.
