Overview
Laboratory findings consistent with the diagnosis of papillary thyroid cancer include presence of tumor markers such as thyroglobulin. Thyroglobulin can be used as a tumor marker for well-differentiated papillary thyroid cancer.
Laboratory Findings
- Laboratory findings consistent with the diagnosis of papillary thyroid cancer include presence of tumor markers such as thyroglobulin. Thyroglobulin can be used as a tumor marker for well-differentiated papillary thyroid cancer.[1][2]
- Reduced expression of ATP5E is significantly associated with the diagnosis of papillary thyroid cancer and may serve as an early tumor marker of the disease.[3]
- Thyroid cancer rarely affects thyroid endocrine function. Therefore, thyroid function test is not diagnostic for the papillary thyroid cancer.[4]
