- In 2013, the prevalence of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) was estimated to be 18,100–27,800 cases per 100,000 individuals in North America, 8,800–25,900 cases per 100,000 individuals in Europe, 2,500–7,800 cases per 100,000 individuals in East Asia, 8,700–33,100 cases per 100,000 individuals in the Middle East, 11,600 cases per 100,000 individuals in Australia and 23,000 cases per 100,000 individuals in South America.[1]
