Overview
Blind loop syndrome is a medical condition that occurs when the intestine is obstructed, slowing or stopping the progress of digested food, and thus facilitating the growth of bacteria to the point that problems in nutrient absorption occur.
CT scan
CT scan may be helpful in the diagnosis of blind loop syndrome. Findings on CT scan suggestive of/diagnostic of blind loop syndrome include:
- focally dilated loop of small bowel
- Adjacent clips may be seen ( in case of postoperative case of blind loop syndrome)
- Sometimes, faeces or air can be seen in the dilated bowel.
