Overview
Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging has the capability to accurately assess global and regional left and right ventricular function, detect and localize myocardial ischemia and infarction, and determine myocardial viability. CMR can also detect myocardial edema and microvascular obstruction, which can help differentiate acute versus chronic MI, as well as other causes of acute chest pain, includ-ing myocarditis. CMR contraindications are reported
MRI
To rule out aortic dissection, a chest CT scan with contrast, MRI or transesophageal echocardiography may be done.
