Overview
Many cases of premature atrial contraction have no definite cause, it may be the result of various other problems. A more extensive work-up is only indicated when PACs present with severe symptoms and complications.
Laboratory Findings
- Renal function and electrolytes are routinely determined
- Consider checking Thyroid Function Tests to rule out hyperthyroidism
- Consider checking hemoglobin and hematocrit to rule out anemia
