Overview
PET scan and PET-CT scan can be used to evaluate for metastasis in patients with small cell lung cancer.
Other Imaging Findings
- Patients with small cell lung cancer should undergo positron emission tomography (PET) scan to evaluate for metastasis.
- PET-CT scan is preferred.
- If PET scan is unavailable, whole bone scan should be performed to detect whether cancer has metastasized to the bones.[1]
