Overview

The etiology of liposarcoma is unknown. The majority of tumors are thought to arise de-novo. Liposarcoma has been associated with environmental factors, such as history of irradiation and infections, and with congenital factors, such as immunodeficiencies and familial cancer syndromes.

Causes

Majority of the liposarcoma arises de-novo, without any apparent causative factor. The definitive causative factor or agent of liposarcoma is unknown.
