Overview
Prostatitis is usually caused by bacterial infection. Aerobic gram-negative bacilli are the most common cause of bacterial prostatitis, with Escherichia coli accounting for 50-80% of cases.[1] The cause of chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome is unknown.[2][1][1][2]
