Overview
Other diagnostic imaging for liposarcoma include imaging of central nervous system and positron emission tomography (PET) scan.[1]
Other Imaging Findings
Imaging of central nervous system
Stage 4 liposarcoma can spread to brain and lungs. Imaging of central nervous system including brain and spinal cord helps to asses this metastasis
Positron emission tomography (PET)
Positron emission tomography (PET) is useful in assesing the tumor if the tumor size is greater than 3 cm, firm and is situated deep within the body. It is useful for following purposes.
- Assess grade of tumor
- Assess stage of tumor
- Prognosis
- Assess tumor shrinkage after chemotherapy.
