Overview
Primary Prevention
Preventing onset of Acute retinal necrosis is dependent on preventing the causative infection from Herpes simplex virus (HSV), Varicella-zoster virus (VZV), and Cytomegalovirus (CMV). Measures to prevent viral infection include the following:[1][2][3]
- Avoiding oral and genital contact with individuals infected with HSV
- Avoiding proximity to individuals infected with VZV to avoid contact with pathogenic respiratory droplets and fluid contact
- Avoiding fluid contact with individuals infected with CMV
