Overview
Ureaplasma species can be distinguished from other bacteria via culture on specific media for Mycoplasma and/or PCR-based techniques.[1]
Differentiating Ureaplasma from other Bacteria
There are no specific signs and symptoms that can distinguish Ureaplasma infection from infection caused by other microorganisms. Ureaplasma species cannot be cultured on conventional culture methods for most bacteria. Special culture media for Mycoplasma is often needed and/or PCR-based tecniques.[1]
