Laboratory Findings
Laboratory findings consistent with the diagnosis of POEMS syndrome include:
- Increased number of thrombocytes[1][2][3]
- Increased number of erythrocytes[1][2][3]
- Elevated cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) protein content[2]
- Increased number of leukocytes[3]
- Low levels of IgG lambda or IgA lambda M-protein in the serum[3]
- Increased number of plasma cells in the bone marrow[3]
- Increased serum VEGF level[4]
