Overview

Goodpasture syndrome was first identified by Dr. Ernest Goodpasture in 1919.

Historical Perspective

The name Goodpasture's syndrome was first coined in 1957 in Melbourne, Australia by Stanton and Tange to describe 9 patients who presented with glomerulonephritis along with pulmonary hemorrhage. However, In a book titled "Earnest William Goodpasture: Scientist, Scholar, Gentelman" by Collins described that Dr. Goodpasture was not fond of naming a syndrome after himself.
