Overview
Renal biopsy is the gold standard of diagnosis hypertensive nephropathy, but it is rarely used in hypertensive patients.
Other Diagnostic Studies
- Renal biopsy is helpful in the diagnosis of hypertensive nephropathy. Findings suggestive of hypertensive nephropathy include:
- Intimal thickening of arterioles
- Hyaline arteriosclerosis
- Arteriolar narrowing
- Glomerular tuft destruction
- Global Glomerulosclerosis
- Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS)
- Tubulointerstitial fibrosis
