Overview

An x-ray may be helpful in the diagnosis of a hiatus hernia. Findings on an x-ray suggestive of a hiatus hernia include retrocardiac opacity with the air-fluid level.

• An x-ray may be helpful in the diagnosis of a hiatus hernia. Findings on an x-ray suggestive hiatus hernia include:
  • An upright radiograph of chest In patients with paraesophageal hernias reveals  retrocardiac air-fluid level 

• 

  Ches X-ray: A Hiatal hernia- Frontal view Air-fluid level behind the heart on the lateral radiograph.
