Overview
PET scan and PET-CT scan can be used to evaluate for metastasis in patients with small cell lung cancer.
Other Imaging Findings
Patients with small cell lung cancer should undergo positron emission tomography (PET) scan to evaluate for metastasis. PET-CT scan is preferred. If PET scan is unavailable, whole bone scan should be performed to detect whether cancer has metastasized to the bones.[1]
