Previous history of stomatitis is common among patients presenting with an episode. Common findings in a patient's history include:[3]
- Bad breath
- Refusal to drink or eat
- History of recurrent infections
- Smoking
- Alcohol
General symptoms
General symptoms associated with herpetic stomatitis include:[3]
HEENT
- Painful swallowing
- Neck pain
Dermatological
- Rash in case of diffuse allergic reaction
Gastrointestinal
- Abnormal bowel habits (with baseline IBD)
