CT scan
CT Scan:
- Criteria for CT scan diagnosis of Alzheimer disease includes diffuse cerebral atrophy with enlargement of the cortical sulci and increased size of the ventricles.
- Cerebral atrophy is observed mostly in patients with Alzheimer disease when compared to patients growing without Alzheimer disease.
- Atrophy progression changes may be useful in diagnosing Alzheimer disease:
- Longitudinal changes in brain size related with longitudinal progression of cognitive loss
- Enlargement of the third and lateral ventricles occuurs to a greater extent in patients with Alzheimer disease.
