Diagnostic Study of Choice

• Lymph node biopsy is the diagnostic study of choice.
• The lymph node sample undergoes hostological examination.
• Immunohistochemistry, FISh and cytogenetic studies are also conducted on the tissue sample.
• Other diagnostic tests that are done are :
  • Complete blood count (CBC)
  • Complete metabolic panel
  • HBV, HCV and HIV testing
  • Serum LDH levels and serum β₂-microglobulin levels.
  • Bone marrow biopsy and aspiration
  • Chest x ray and abdominal ultrasound
  • CT scan
  • PET scan
  • Cytogenetics studies
  • Flow cytometry
  • Immunohistochemistry
  • FISH
  • Genetic testing
  • Immunophenotyping: BCL-2+, BCL6+, CD5-, CD10+, CD19, CD20, CD22, CD43, CD79a, heavy and light chains rearranged, t(14;18)(q32:q21)-85% with rearrangement of BCL-2 gene.
