Diagnostic Study of Choice
- Lymph node biopsy is the diagnostic study of choice.
- The lymph node sample undergoes hostological examination.
- Immunohistochemistry, FISh and cytogenetic studies are also conducted on the tissue sample.
- Other diagnostic tests that are done are :
- Complete blood count (CBC)
- Complete metabolic panel
- HBV, HCV and HIV testing
- Serum LDH levels and serum β2-microglobulin levels.
- Bone marrow biopsy and aspiration
- Chest x ray and abdominal ultrasound

- Cytogenetics studies
- Flow cytometry
- Immunohistochemistry

- Genetic testing
- Immunophenotyping: BCL-2+, BCL6+, CD5-, CD10+, CD19, CD20, CD22, CD43, CD79a, heavy and light chains rearranged, t(14;18)(q32:q21)-85% with rearrangement of BCL-2 gene.
