Overview
Surgery is the mainstay of treatment for dermoid cysts.[1]
Surgery
- Complete surgical excision by enucleation is the mainstay of treatment for dermoid cysts.[1]
- Enucleation via intraoral or extraoral approach depending upon the size and location of the cyst is performed for dermoid cysts in the floor of the mouth.[2]
- Intraoral approach is preferred for small sublingual cysts, whereas extraoral approach is preferred for submental and large sublingual cysts.
- Incomplete excision may result in recurrence.[3]
