Overview

X rays may be helpful in the diagnosis of dermoid cysts. Findings on pelvic x ray suggestive of ovarian demoid cyst may include calcifications and tooth components.^[1] On x-rays, dermoid cysts are characterized by a focal lucency due to the fatty sebum.^[2] X rays may appear normal in other dermoid cysts.

Ovarian Dermoid Cyst

Findings on pelvic x ray suggestive of ovarian demoid cyst may include:^[1]
- Calcifications
- Tooth components

Gallery

Lucency in the pelvis with a calcific density (more or less tooth-shaped) at the periphery (arrow). This is classical of a dermoid cyst with tooth.^[4]
