Overview
Dermoid cysts may be classified into congenital and acquired types. Based on the anatomical location dermoid cysts may be classified into several subtypes into ovarian, periorbital, spinal, intracranial, and dermoid cysts of the floor of the mouth.[1]

- Ovarian dermoid cyst
- Periorbital dermoid cyst
- Spinal dermoid cyst
- Intracranial dermoid cyst
- Dermoid cysts of the floor of the mouth[4]
- Sublingual (median genio-glossal)
- Submental (median geniohyoid)
- Submandibular
